The DRDO Friday suspended a senior scientist, Dr Arun Kumar, just three hours prior to his superannuation for alleged irregularities in recruitment.
The Central Vigilance Commission had passed strictures against Kumar in August as well as asked the Defence Ministry to reconsider his daughter’s appointment as scientist ‘C’ by the DRDO. Another senior official, Dr Neelam Bhalla, had accused Kumar of favouritism.
However, an internal panel had given Kumar a clean chit in June 2012, stating that “no favour or undue advantage was given to his daughter”.
The DRDO spokesperson refused to comment but Dr W Selvamurthy, Chief Controller R&D for Life Sciences confirmed Kumar’s suspension.

Dr. Arun Kumar – an eminent Scientist with outstanding service records at the DRDO and has outstanding achievements and recognitions, was given Scientist of the year Award in 2008 and promoted to HAG scale as outstanding Scientist in 2010, had been granted extension in service for a period of two years by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) in 2010, and further approved for appointment as Chairman, CEPTAM in DRDO in HAG scale by the ACC for a period of three years .Now all is Zero.
In this case DRDO try to protect DR Arun Kumar in every possible way though CVC has imposed major penalties but DRDO waited for long filing charge sheet giving relief by going into CAT delhi .How CAT Delhi has accepted this matter great wounder. Also set aside the CVC order another great wounder. But still P CAT give ample opportunity to A.K.Anthony to run his hunter . Which he used just three hour before Arun kumar retirement. Great Job
Now Salwan Committee who gave clean chit to Arun kumar is in question . Mr Salwan has DRDO chair now because of giving clean chit to Arun Kumar.
SO FINALLY END IS ZERO

That’s illegal. Technically he was retired as on afternoon of that day. Reading above, looks like it was done post afternoon.
